Fuensanta is a singer, double bassist,composer, improviser and multidisciplinary artist born in Veracruz, México and based in Amsterdam. Her music holds rare and simple poetry suspended between jazz, pop, electronic, contemporary and traditional
music.Through her deeply expressive voice and unruly music she has gained recognition in Europe, USA and Latin America.
She was born in Tlalnehuayocan, in the state of Veracruz, a very rich and complex region in México, full of traditions and cultural
convergences. Since very young she was devoted to dance, but at age 13 she decided to be a singer after her first singing lesson
with Lisareli Servín. She studied in Veracruz at Jazz UV and had private lessons on jazz and classical music and started learning,
playing with friends, son jarocho, the traditional music of Veracruz.
Since mid 2021 she has been constantly collaborating either on stage or in recordings with great musicians such as Louis Cole, Genevieve Artadi, Ben Wendel, Aaron Parks, Han Bennink, Ben van Gelder, Kit Downes, Reinier Baas, Magalí Datzira, Lucia Fumero, Sun Mi Hong, Teis Semey, and Snarky Puppy, and performed at festivals and venues such as North Sea Jazz, Berlin Jazz Fest, Glastonbury, Le Guess Who?, GroundUp Music Festival, Bimhuis, Musicgebouw, Kennedy Center, and Kings Theater among many others. Whether in solo, duo, her quartet (with Gabriel Milliet, Alex Lázaro and Isabel Crespo), Ensamble Grande or special projects, she always delivers a deep, warm and exciting performance, through the overwhelming sincerity of her voice.
