Per la prima volta a Matera, Sista Awa, allâanagrafe AWA FALL giovane e fulgida stella della scena reggae e della black music internazionale, incontra 'O ZulĂš, frontman del gruppo raggamuffin rap 99 Posse, fondato nel 1991 al Centro Sociale Occupato Autogestito Officina 99 di Napoli. Ă stato tra i protagonisti della stagione italiana delle posse nei primi anni novanta. Con lui Fada Kinky dello storico sound napoletano Kinky sound insieme a Kianka Town in dancehall style.
Bio O' ZULU'
'O ZulÚ, pseudonimo di Luca Persico (Napoli, 15 novembre 1970), è un rapper italiano.
Ă il frontman del gruppo raggamuffin rap 99 Posse, fondato nel 1991 al Centro Sociale Occupato Autogestito Officina 99 di Napoli. Ă stato tra i protagonisti della stagione italiana delle posse nei primi anni novanta.
Frequenta la scuola dei fratelli Maristi di Giugliano in Campania. Dopo aver fondato nel 1991 i 99 Posse, collaborato con i Bisca nel supergruppo Bisca99Posse, e fondato con PapaJ e Neil Perch gli Al Mukawama, porta avanti con l'aggiunta di Dj2Fast, Massimo Jovine e Claudio Marino un progetto a metà strada tra i 99 Posse ed Al Mukawama, denominato ZulÚ in the Al Mukawama experiment number three, sorta di backing band dello stesso ZulÚ con il quale pubblica nel 2005 il doppio album dal vivo 'O ZulÚ in the Al Mukawama experiment 3, dove vengono remixati nelle musiche e aggiornati nei testi i successi della 99 Posse. In seguito dà il via alla formazione dei BiscaZulÚ, che però esaurisce la sua vena dopo poco piÚ di un anno.
Nel 2002 pubblica per la Feltrinelli Cartoline zapatiste, un diario della sua partecipazione alla spedizione itinerante del subcomandante Marcos. Compone le musiche del film Fame chimica, in cui interpreta anche una piccola parte. Da marzo ad agosto 2009 va in tour con Enrico Capuano e la "tammurriata rock", canti di lotta e di protesta, mentre da settembre dello stesso anno è di nuovo in tour con i 99 Posse.
Bio AWA FALL
Born in Bergamo, Italy in 1996 by a Senegalese father and an Italian mother; Awa started performing at the early age of fourteen in a guitar and voice musical project together with her auntie Valentina called âShame and Skandalâ where the two of them performed all over Italy.
Then at the age of eighteen, Awa decided to start her solo project and released her first solo album âInna Dis Ya Iwaâin 2016. Backed either by âThe Eazy Skankersâ reggae band, her new band âThe Smoke Orchestraâ or with her âWomen Soldiersâ project, Awa toured and performed all the biggest festivals of the continent such as Rototom (Spain), Uprising (Slovakia), Overjam (Slovenia), Africa Festival (Germany) and many many others.
Her second album âW.O.W-Words Of Wisdomâ was released in January 2019, and it was entirely produced by âBonnotâ, a very colorful and versatile record label since she wanted to play with and mix up different styles and genres in one album with ten tracks where she featured artists such as: Kumar âFyahâ (Jamaica), General Levy (UK), M1 - Dead Prez (USA)...
From an early age Awa has always had a profound love for Dub music and she has given her contribution to the genre by working with artists such as Alpha Steppa (UK), Sista Habesha (IT), Mystical Powa (IT), Chalart 58 (ES), Zion Train (UK), Mad Professor (UK), Dub & Future (JP) and many others.
Awa Fall & Alpha Steppa recently finished their new LP "What A Joy" which will be released on all digital platforms on February 24, 2023. The first singles released from the album, which are accompanied by music video clips, are "Waters Of Babylon," "Godsend" and "What A Joy."
In addition, Awa, is working on a new album produced entirely by one of the pioneers of dub music Neil Fraser aka Mad Professor which is now in its final stages of production and she has just released her new album'Fire & Flames' with the collaboration of other producers including Paolo Baldini, Gaudi, BizzarriâŚand featuring artists such as Brother Culture, Ombre Zion, Bunna, Jah Defender...
