Chiara Indelicato, fotografa e residente a Stromboli, esplora nel suo lavoro la vita su un’isola vulcanica, dove gli abitanti vivono con l’acuta consapevolezza di un mondo finito, in balia degli elementi. Sotto la cenere, tra il mare e il fuoco, si interroga su come sopravvivere in un ambiente con risorse limitate.
Pelle di Lava trae origine da due disastri avvenuti nel 2022: un incendio che ha devastato la vegetazione dell’isola, seguito da piogge torrenziali che hanno causato smottamenti che hanno raggiunto il villaggio. Attraverso questo progetto, Chiara Indelicato propone una riflessione sull’emergenza climatica, rivendicando un rapporto animistico con la natura e il diritto di difendere questa terra viva e fragile. Diritto di difendere questa terra viva e fragile, di cui il vulcano stesso si fa portavoce.
portavoce. Sviluppa le sue immagini utilizzando caffè, vitamina C e acqua di mare, in assenza di sostanze inquinanti, tesse un legame organico tra il suo processo e l’isola, aspra e indomabile.

Chiara Indelicato, photographer and resident of Stromboli
explores in her work life on a volcanic island, where the inhabitants live with the acute awareness of a finite world, at the mercy of the elements. Beneath the ashes, between the sea and the fire, she questions how to subsist in an environment with limited resources.
Pelle di Lava has its origins in two disasters in 2022: a fire ravaging the island’s vegetation, followed by torrential rains causing mudslides that reached the village. Through this project, Chiara Indelicato proposes a reflection on the climate emergency, asserting an animistic relationship with nature and the right to defend this living, fragile land. The right to defend this living, fragile land, for which the volcano itself becomes the spokesperson. Developing her images with coffee, vitamin C and seawater, in the absence of pollutants, she weaves an organic bond between her process and the harsh, untamable island.
